Secure and enhance Cambridge’s tradition of excellence in classical music

  • decorative

The rich musical environment at Cambridge has provided a life-changing training ground for many of the world’s foremost conductors, composers, singers and instrumentalists.

Following its establishment, the Centre for Music Performance has taken on responsibility for the flagship University ensembles, including the University Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Symphony Chorus, Collegium Musicum period instrument orchestra and New Music Group. It also supports the University’s talent development schemes — the Instrumental Awards, Lieder and Conducting Scholarship schemes — and runs high-profile conducting, concerto and composition competitions.

Your support could enable the Centre to enhance the opportunities on offer for the University’s most talented musicians, maintaining Cambridge’s position as one of the world’s great centres of excellence in the education of young musicians.

Priorities include:

  • Supporting special initiatives that enable students to experience performance at the highest levels of excellence that would not be possible without additional support, including projects with world-leading professional guest conductors and soloists and opportunities to perform side by side with professionals.
  • Maintaining a year-round programme of professional masterclasses, coaching sessions and workshops for the University’s most able musicians.
