Co-Chairs

Dr Mohamed A El-Erian

Dr Mohamed A El-Erian

Dr El-Erian is the President of Queens’ College, Cambridge. He is a part-time Professor of Practice at the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and a Senior Global Fellow at the Lauder Institute. He serves on the boards of Barclays, NBER, and Under Armour, and is an advisor to Allianz and Gramercy.

 

He previously served as CEO and Co-CIO of PIMCO, Chair of President Obama’s Global Development Council, Deputy Director at the IMF, Managing Director at Salomon Smith Barney, and CEO and President of the Harvard Management Company.

 

Having been named by Foreign Policy as a ‘Top 100 Global Thinker’ four years in a row, Dr El-Erian is a Financial Times Contributing Editor and Bloomberg Opinion Columnist. His book, 'When Markets Collide', was a New York Times best-seller, won the FT-Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year award, was called the best business book of all time by The Independent, and was named a book of the year by The Economist.

 

Dr El-Erian obtained his BA and MA in Economics from Cambridge and his MPhil/DPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford. He is a Member of the Guild of Cambridge Benefactors and an Honorary Fellow at Queens’ College.

Sir Harvey McGrath

Sir Harvey is an alumnus of St Catharine’s College (Geography, 1971). He is Chair of the Advisory Board of the Impact Investing Institute and is the former Chair of Big Society Capital, former Chair of Governors at Birkbeck College, University of London and Chair of Funding London. Sir Harvey was knighted in the 2016 New Year’s Honours List for services to economic growth and public life. He is a member of the Guild of Cambridge Benefactors and was awarded The Chancellor’s 800th Anniversary Medal for Outstanding Philanthropy in 2012. He is Chair of West London Zone, which works with young people; Chair of Funding London, which provides funding to early-stage London businesses; and a Trustee of New Philanthropy Capital which gives advice and guidance to donors and charities.
