George Batchelor Memorial Fund
The GK Batchelor Lectureship provides for a one-week visit each year by an authority in some branch of fluid mechanics, usually from overseas, to present a keynote fluid mechanics seminar and to interact with members of the Department, particularly with postgraduate students, during the visit.
This Lectureship was initiated in 1995 by George himself, who made a substantial personal donation, and is now financed by the GK Batchelor Memorial Fund established in 2000, to which many have contributed. However, we need to raise a further £25k in order to secure in permanence the future of this Lectureship.
