Powerlifting Club (CUPC)
Cambridge University Powerlifting Club (CUPLC) has rapidly grown to become one of the most successful sports clubs in Cambridge University, winning ‘Club of the Year’ at the Cambridge University Sports Awards in 2019/20. We compete annually against Oxford at the Varsity match with a mixed team and have won for a record 8 years in a row. Our men’s team have won BUCs and our members regularly qualify to compete on the international stage.
CUPLC aim to lead from the front with inclusivity and performance. We compete up to 4 times a year, with the earlier smaller competitions qualifying us for larger national and international competitions. We believe that strength development and athleticism are vital to all sports and therefore we keep our doors open to anyone who wants to become stronger and not just those who compete in powerlifting. We boast one of the lowest annual membership fees of any sports club at £35/year.
The reason our club has grown rapidly these last few years and our performance standards are so high, is because we strive to keep barriers to entry low and constantly work on improving access and representation in our club. We always aim to provide more every year for the sporting development to each of our members whether they choose to compete or not. Any donations would help us to achieve this.
Regular donations will greatly help the club pay for:
- Venue hire for regular weekly team training, and for competitions
- Increase our physiotherapy and sports medicine capacity
- Reimbursing travel and transport hire (this greatly reduces financial barriers to competing)
One-off donations will help CUPLC with:
- Buying competition standard powerlifting racks
