Through world-leading academic research and creative public engagement initiatives, Cambridge Interfaith Programme (CIP) promotes a better understanding of the complex and diverse relationships between different religious traditions, and between those traditions and secular societies.
Since its inception in 2002, Cambridge Interfaith Programme has promoted deep and informed conversation within and between the three Abrahamic faiths, and with persons of all faiths and none. Directed by the Sultan Qaboos Professor of Abrahamic Faiths & Shared Values, the Programme seeks to advance academic research and interaction with a focus on religion and inter-religious relations.
Reaching outside the University, the Programme seeks to share and develop work in partnership with communities of faith and to the benefit of society, including through the Religion and Global Challenges Initiative (est. 2021).

- Posts to enhance the core teaching, research and engagement strengths of CIP
- Funding for visiting scholars to spend periods in residence at Cambridge
- Scholarships to support MPhil and PhD students at Cambridge, to ensure a continuum of outstanding researchers representing all the major faiths
- Public engagement activities that will bring together members of different religious traditions for discussion, formal and informal, and joint study and research
