Founded in 1855 Cambridge University Swimming and Water Polo Club (CUSWPC) is one of the oldest swimming clubs in the country.

CUSWPC competes against Oxford annually in the pool at the Swimming and the Water Polo Varsity matches, and bi-annually in the English Channel Relay Swim.

Visit the CUSWPC website for more information.

Support CUSWPC

The ever-increasing costs of membership for our students continue to pose a significant barrier to access to CUSWPC. This year’s membership fees started at £560 for Blues swimming and £390 for water polo, with the total financial burden including transport, pool hire, swim meet entry fees, coaches and training camps being upwards of £1,100 for swimmers and £900 for water polo as of 2023. For many students, these costs aren’t feasible, and although CUSWPC is continuing to grow as a club, an increasing number of keen swimmers and water polo players are being prevented from taking part because of rising costs every year. As a club that values our diverse membership from a wide range of backgrounds, we want to do what we can to help widen access to swimming and water polo throughout the University.

Additionally, our men's and women's water polo teams are the only squads competing at their level of play in BUCS that are unable to afford professional coaching, placing the burden instead on our more experienced student-athletes.

The Club is looking for support to help assist with student membership fees as well as work towards our ambition for a University swimming pool, as we are currently one of the few Blues sports at Cambridge without University-provided training facilities, which contributes significantly to training costs. A doubling of our current recurrent alumni funding would represent nearly £50 per student per year off of subscription costs.
